Carlsberg UK Publish Latest 2017 Sustainability Report

Carlsberg UK’s 2017 Sustainability Report shows good progress towards Carlsberg Group's new sustainability programme, Together Towards ZERO.

Headline results include a 64% reduction in Lost-time Accidents (LTAs) and a 2.1% reduction in water usage since 2015.

Launched in June 2017, Together Towards ZERO calls for strong action in the face of complex sustainability challenges such as climate change, access to water resources and public health challenges. It consists of four major ambitions – ZERO carbon footprint, ZERO water waste, ZERO irresponsible drinking and a ZERO accidents culture – each with individual targets for 2022 and 2030 respectively.

Highlights from the 2017 UK Sustainability Report include:

ZERO carbon footprint

  • New, comprehensive approach to energy management
  • Introduction of LED light conversions across all Carlsberg UK sites

ZERO water waste

  • 1% reduction in water consumption since 2015
  • Introduction of new spin recycling systems

ZERO irresponsible drinking

  • Over 10,000 people reached through our 2017 UK Global Beer Responsibility Day campaign
  • 100% of our beverage portfolio includes responsible drinking messaging on labels and on pack

ZERO accidents culture

  • Lost-time Accidents down by 64% compared with 2015

Together Towards ZERO was developed in partnership with leading global experts, using a science-based approach. Aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and with the Paris Agreement’s more ambitious goal of limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius.

This year’s report provides full details on the progress Carlsberg UK has made over the last year, and against its 2015 baseline.
